'BSG for SDG' is a humble initiative by Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG) to spread greater awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to encourage others to take urgent action on the SDGs. The 'BSG for SDG' mobile app and website serves as a one-stop-platform where people can learn about the concept of sustainability in an easy-to-read and easy-to-understand manner, connect with like-minded individuals who are taking inspiring action on the SDGs, and contribute to the SDGs by uploading their personal actions that depict how they are adapting 'sustainable human behaviour' to lead a sustainable life.

These SDG actions of individuals uploaded on the app help in creating a chain reaction of encouragement for all humanity - they serve as a source of inspiration for countless others to do their bit in achieving the SDGs. They help makes SDGs relatable. They provide a direction as to how we all can contribute to the SDGs by taking small steps in our life.

BSG launched this initiative of 'BSG for SDG' in July 2021, to respond to the expectations of its founding president Daisaku Ikeda who has shared his vision of a sustainable new world in various annual proposals submitted to the United Nations.

To build such a world where the dignity of all life is respected, BSG has been undertaking various activities under the banner 'Towards 2030: Achieving SDGs through Sustainable Human Behaviour'.

Some of these include:

  • Roughly 1 out of every 500 members in BSG is working directly or indirectly in the field of Sustainability in various sectors as SDG professionals.
  • BSG's 'SDG Ambassadors' - a group of over 300 members, is taking lead in generating awareness and creating inspiration around the SDGs.
  • Since 2021, BSG has been organizing an exhibition titled 'Seeds of Hope & Action' (SOHA) in various institutes of India. The exhibition raises awareness amongst the young students on climate change, the SDGs and the role of youth.
  • 'SDG Clubs / SDG Societies' have been initiated in institutes which are designed to raise and foster SDG leaders in society.
  • BSGs bimonthly newsletter titled 'SUSTAINABLE' is based on themes such as “Youth and Sustainability”, “Women Empowerment”, “Climate Change”, among others.
  • Short, curated videos on SDGs are available on BSG's official YouTube channel and social media pages.

Let’s join hands in creating a sustainable world. We only have this one precious Earth. There is no Planet B.
